La zona montañosa está compuesta de formaciones sedimentarias de rocas arenosas, duras y resistentes a la erosión, y por rocas arcillosas blandas, con edades desde el cretáceo superior al terciario. Las unión de capas blandas y capas duras es un indicativo claro de un relieve estructural. En cuanto a unidades fisiográficas podemos hablar de laderas erosionales moderadamente inclinadas y llanuras de pie de monte. (no podemos realizar la identificación visual en las fotos entregadas por C y M.)<br /> <br /> El estar conformado por este tipo de materiales ha hecho que en esta zona se utilice para la explotación de canteras.</div>
